1st For Comfort Memory Foam Mattresses

Choosing your memory foam mattress

Medium or firm - It's as simple as that !

There are so many different memory foam mattresses on the market that choosing the right one for you could be an impossible task.

This is NOT TRUE !

Memory foam mattresses are basically a 2 part construction consisting of a polyurethane foam base and a visco elastic memory foam topper. The quality of the base foam determines how well the mattress will support your body. A low density foam will collapse under your weight, causing the mattress to bend or distort. Too high a density foam will offer too much resistance and feel uncomfortably hard.

Deeper mattresses do not perform better, but too thin a mattress may not support you correctly. After much research and following the advice of our suppliers who are experts in their field, we would always recommend an 8 inch mattress consisting of a 6 inch base and a 2 inch topper.

Our memory foam mattresses incorporate a Reflex foam base (34 kg per cubic metre). Reflex foam is melamine free and as such, its cell structure is purer than ordinary foam. This means that the memory foam mattress base will perform better and last longer. We do not use any other base foam in the construction of our memory foam mattresses.

Next comes the memory foam mattress topper, which determines the 'feel' of the mattress. We incorporate two types of visco elastic memory foam within our memory foam mattresses. Vasco 40 (40kg per cubic metre) provides a softer feel. Basically there is less resistance so you sink a little deeper into this topper. We would recommend this to customers who are of or below average weight or who prefer a softer mattress. Vasco 55 (55kg per cubic metre) is denser and offers a firmer feel. We would recommend this to customers who are above average weight or who prefer a firmer mattress.

Finally, all our memory foam mattresses incorporate our unique Cirrus climate control system. It sits above the memory foam and counteracts the build up of heat and moisture traditionally associated with memory foam mattresses. This layer is so crucially important to the performance of our memory foam mattresses that we have dedicated an entire section of this web site to explain how Cirrus works.
